This page is a low-noise update on current projects, reading, and making; without chasing algorithm feeds. Think of it as what I’d tell you if we hadn’t caught up in a while and I see you on line at the coffee shop. It’s a snapshot of now, not a record of everything, so we’d still have plenty to talk about if we sat down to chat.

Work & Writing
little acorn creations keeps me teaching more knitting and crochet than ever, I wrangle two weekly groups, a lot of yarn, and as always patient listening. PSG Studio keeps me focused on small fixes and the pressure points that actually matter.
Automation is great when it works. You may see “An error occurred …” while I work on a better solution. You can follow individual sites: PSG Studio, little acorn creations, Penguin Girl, and the book reviews; or see everything at Current Writing.
• PSG Studio: plans to map and strategies for resilience
September 25, 2026 • For years, I’ve called myself a planner, and others call me one too; it’s become a title of sorts, and it’s one I’m moving away from. I nearly always have a notebook in my hands and often say “I need to check my planner first”. When I was the IT Manager at a small midtown … continue reading at PSG Studio →
• little acorn creations: undoing is a skill
September 29, 2026 • My students are all convinced I knit and crochet everything perfectly from the start. I don’t. The other week at the sisterhood’s blanket group, which I facilitate, a crocheter was frustrated that she was ripping out, again. Her voice was full of exasperation as she remarked to the group, “Penny never does this, she’s an … continue reading at little acorn creations →

Reading
With a bookmark:
I devour books constantly. There’s always something on my nightstand, in my ears, and checked out digitally. I often max out my library cards and love library used book sales. There’s more books that have placed marked, though I can only read a book or three at a time. See my book reviews and thoughts on books.
Some book links here are Bookshop.org affiliate links. If you purchase through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Making
In my tote bag: literary fragments blanket, a sample for a new sweater design, and the newest crochet blanket
I’m always making something, usually multiple somethings at once. The tote bag holds the active WIPs, there’s many other UFOs in bins in my studio, and there’s a sock in my EDC. Sometimes they’re a UFO for a week or two before they become an active WIP again, or sometimes they’re sit for years. I’ve found that spindling and weavette squares — things that can happen in quiet moments — are more frequent than time at my wheel or loom. See what’s in progress at Penny’s Notebook,
